DIRECTORS ASSISTANT WANTED

We are looking for a full-time person to assist the directors and be part of a team operating weekly auction sales of livestock at Frome Market. This is a new role which will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop and contribute to the future direction of the business. Initial responsibilities will include, however will not be limited to the following:

·        Marketing, advertising, social media and website – the candidate will take responsibility for coordination of marketing through sales catalogues, social media, website and weekly reports. This will include working with independent marketing consultants.

·        Sales clerking and weighing of livestock for auctioneers on sale days.

·        Sales office admin – the candidate will be expected to learn all aspects of an auction sale which will include invoicing, cattle passports, booking-in stock and recording sales.

·        Use of administrative software such as Canva and Newline

·        Administration for the Directors – this will include general admin such as typing letters, organising meetings, taking minutes etc.

·        Coordination of activities outside of the usual business such as hosting events, meetings for outside groups and potential networking events for farmers.

·        Record keeping including Farm Assurance, Health & Safety, staff training, licensing etc.

·        Managing issues and problems that arise from sales.

·        Answering the phone and dealing with general enquiries.

·        Providing cover in the sales office when needed.

The successful candidate will need to possess the following skills and attributes:

·        An approachable, friendly and confident personality

·        Agricultural experience; the understanding of different farming systems and terminology

·        The ability to work as part of a team

·        Strong communication skills in person and over the phone

·        Basic numeracy, literacy and grammar skills

·        Competency with Microsoft Word and Excel

·        The ability to work under pressure during a live auction

·        Experience with auction sales would be advantageous however not essential.

Remuneration and package will be based on experience and the individual candidate.
